Hella Slingshots by Adam Gray / March 2014

We are charmed (as we think you will be) by the work of Adam Gray, our upcoming gallery artist. His ridiculously wonderful project, Hella Slingshots, runs from March 2 to March 28, 2014. Please join us for our opening reception on March 7, 2014 from 6-8pm.

Adam writes in his own words:
Of all the things that bring us sheer childlike joy—the pogo stick, the scooter, the remote control car—the slingshot is tops. Stuffed in a back pocket and taken for a hike, it leads to endless amusement and mischief. I fell back in love with slingshots after one of my friends started bringing his on camping and bicycle tours. To kill time we'd shoot cans, bodies of water, and off high places. Being a crafty sort of person I thought I might try making a few unique slingshots for myself. I got a little carried away (as I often do) and well you can see now I make a ton of wooden slingshots... or if you speak West Coast "Hella Slingshots."

New to RD

We have some new products in the shop that we adore, all perfectly suited for the season! Our friend, Tiffanie Turner has taken the construction of her pinata eggs and made a version for fall and winter in the form of acorns. The metallic paper is beautiful and these constructions can add a unique, handmade addition to your tree, a table setting or on top of a gift.

A new designer for RD, Potipoti, makes bold, graphic knit apparel and accessories. We are excited to feature their multi-functional scarf/blankets. These cashmere and wool knits feature a geometric pattern for a big cozy scarf that doubles as a blanket. A great detail to this design is it includes a leather carrier for an afternoon trip to the park.

For those that love to make things themselves, Noted* has a DIY drum kit that comes with everything you need to build your own set of bongos. The bongos are made with natural wood which can be a great a surface for personalized decoration.

Kala Corporation takes advantage of the positive effects of cedar wood oil extract to make a fantastic smelling soap that is also great for your skin and hair.

Come check them out! In store or online.
