The Rare Device Gallery is excited to present Earth in Stillness by Yeongkeun Jeong of Toh Ceramics. 

In his exhibition, Earth in Stillness, Yeongkeun merges these precise structural lines with heavily textured clay to create a sense of quiet, yet striking, visual pause. He is exploring a style that emphasizes tactility by centering the rough clay body and applying glaze in subtle and/or purely practical ways. 

Rather than competing for attention, these creations rely entirely on human interaction to come alive. To truly perceive the work's fine details and shapes, one must take time to hold, touch, and engage with them. Yeongkeun’s work celebrates the meditative presence of objects that reveal their richness and depth with time and engagement.

Yeongkeun Jeong is a Korean ceramic artist based in San Francisco with a background in industrial design. His clay work serves as a personal investigation into what commercial manufacturing leaves behind, filling the space between industrialized forms and human touch. Yeongkeun’s distinctive aesthetic style bridges these two worlds, seamlessly marrying the intentional details found in industrial design with the sensorial, tactile depth of earth’s natural gifts. This approach offers a modern interpretation of form, pulling structured geometric discipline directly out of an authentic, raw source.

Stillness in Earth opens in the RD Gallery on Friday, July 31st with an opening reception from 6-8. The show will be up until September 13th.
