Squiggggggle by Katie Gong: Opening Reception

On June 24th, we were proud to host our good friend, Katie Gong, on her opening night of her gallery show Squiggggggle on the Rare Device gallery wall. Featuring 12 hanging pieces and 2 standing pieces, Squiggggggle is a playful study of movement and energy flow through shape.

This is Katie's second solo show at Rare Device. We hosted the artist back in 2017 for her show Woodknot. Her wood bending process with the use of steam has allowed her to manipulate the shape and form of rigid wood into something playful, pliable and innovative to the woodworking trade. Early attendees of the show were treated to a special gift that Katie sculpted herself! A mini wood knot ornament! Each one is unique and handmade; a real treat for those in attendance.
We also had refreshments throughout the event provided by Troop Beverage Co. in fun flavors with Troop's unique spin on traditional cocktail recipes.
