Encaustic
Amy Ruppel brought us 10 new little encaustic paintings today! We'll have them up in the webshop as soon as we can photograph them. For the curious, her process is this: The birds and the gradient circle shapes are made of paper. The circles are derived from her own photographs. Wax is poured on top and then she etches into it and rubs oil paint into the lines. Finally she heats the top so it becomes one smooth surface. Amy promises to have a video of this process on her website soon!
