Travels
I am back from a quick trip to Brooklyn to check in on Rare + Fine, swap some products (it is a little crazy having shops so far away, UPS is our friend) and enjoy time with friends, designers, vendors...I managed to even have time to be bad at the brand-new three-story Kinokuniya on Bryant Park, and see the AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers show which was so lovely. It's up until the 21st in NYC so please visit!
One thing we are working on beefing up in SF is our clothing selection for men. We have added Cassette and I talked with Shirley of eubiQ on this trip. Her work is reminiscent of early Nice Collective with a sophisticated New York twist, which I think will work nicely for us. If you came by the shop this weekend, we also have two sweet pieces for women in SF favorite all black by Sustainable Collective. As per the name, the items are made from bamboo, organic cotton and hemp silk.
In Brooklyn, Sodafine is handling the clothing and warm scarves and mittens (made by proprietress Ms. Erin herself) and I can tell you that the new goods by Toggery and Preloved are exceptional...I am going to have to steal some designers from her!
And in the paper department, we have charming new cards by UK artist Alison Hardcastle. It's hard to keep up with all the goodies but I plan to shoot many pictures tomorrow. We'll also have some announcements about special holiday events at the store as well.
