Blossoms

It is May and the apple and cherry blossoms magically appear every morning on the floor of the shop. OK, I guess it's not magic when there is a sizable gap under the front door...but it's kind of pretty right now.

New today: books! A wee manifesto by Bruno Munari on "good design", a fabulous book about Mexican blacklettering, a compendium of work by Japanese illustrators, more Tim Biskup 'American Cyclops' as well as his poker card set (on the webshop soon we promise), and a few more copies of the Japanese book design book.

We also have a new bowl by Alyssa Ettinger, a gorgeous piece in her knitware line. The outside is unglazed and nubby, and inside is glazed white, the rim is uneven, it's awesome. We'll have that in the webstore soon too. Congrats to Alyssa for her Daily Candy mention on Monday! And we are working on getting new earrings from Abigail Percy in the webshop - they are very special occasion and beautiful, and Abigail made them in new color/metal combos just for us.

Restocked: Ivy coat rack system in the dark brown color as well as a neutral medium grey. Little bird vase by Joanna Mendicino. Archipelago candles in your favorite scents.

Events: Cherry Blossom Circus, a fashion show event, in Williamsburg on Friday night - check Sodafine's website for more details. Brooklyn Indie Market opens this Saturday, as does the food stand extravaganza at the Red Hook ballfields. And in San Francisco, Lisa Congdon's next show opens at Doe on Friday - wish I was there!
