Slowly Rewind / New Work by Yina Kim Opening Reception
Please join us Friday, June 6 from 6-8pm as we celebrate artist Yina Kim's solo gallery exhibition at Rare Device! Drinks and refreshments will be served.
Slowly Rewind is a two-part illustrated study of Yina's curiosity of people. 12 Units, a story based series is a semi-fictional voyeuristic observation of her apartment tenants living in San Francisco. While the ongoing portrait series is a reinterpreted images of found portraits. By incorporating her own story and memories into each character, it creates a relationship and conveys familiarity to the unknown. Exhibition runs from June 2 to June 30, 2014.
Yina Kim is an artist working in San Francisco. Her work has been featured on The Bold Italic, Dwell Magazine, Lucky Peach, and Vice Magazine.
