Rare Device is pleased to announce our June 2016 gallery exhibition Food Faces. Food Faces is the debut of Day Dreamers Limited, the combined forces of Kelly Tunstall and Ferris Plock of KeFe Inc. and Howard Cao of Form & Fiction. Food Faces is an art cookbook. With every lip-smacking turn of the page, meals and snacks become a blast for any kid age 0 to 100. Food Faces launches at Rare Device, accompanied by food-filled art and photography.

Born of a father’s necessity, loved on Instagram, and now published as equal parts art and cookbook, Food Faces is a colorful collection of “how-to” food art meant to inspire parents, grandparents, guardians, babysitters, uncles and aunts who want to make mealtime a fun and entertaining experience. Through artist Ferris Plock’s process, the simple act of making and eating a meal becomes a uniquely different ritual.

About the Author: Ferris Plock is an artist from San Francisco. He works primarily with his wife, Kelly Tunstall (Plock’s partner in the artistic duo KeFe, Inc). He is the proud Poppa of two outstanding, redheaded monsters. Plock brings a dedicated focus to his work paired with a wild sense of originality and playful narrative. Inanimate objects come alive through acrylic, watercolor, spray paint, India ink, gold and silver leaf, collage, and now, food. Plock has thoroughly explored the foodscape in previous exhibitions: Edible Complex with San Francisco’s FFDG (2013), Personal Pizza Party at One Grand Gallery, Portland, Oregon (2015), and You Are What You Eat, in Tokyo, Japan hosted by See You Soon (2016). Drawing from this global enthusiasm, Plock brings his love for food and character-based artwork to an edible conclusion with this first book, Food Faces.

About Day Dreamers Limited: Day Dreamers Limited is a partnership committed to the belief that our dreams don’t need to be separated from our day job. Founded by Kelly Tunstall, Ferris Plock and Howard Cao, and powered by sister company, Form & Fiction, Day Dreamers Limited creates products inspired by artistic curiosity. Kelly Tunstall and Ferris Plock have been creating exhibitions and projects for nine years through their wife and husband collaboration, KeFe Inc. Their work together has included national and international art exhibitions, animations, installations, 3D design, and curation. Howard Cao is the founder of Form & Fiction, a creative venture that applies its heritage of diverse capabilities to create & capture & model & test & plan & produce better ideas. Being longtime friends and collaborators, Day Dreamers Limited came about naturally, as an official outlet to explore art and commerce beyond the confines of traditional galleries. Within this newly formed collective, Kelly, Ferris, and Howard continue to develop an array of interactive and conceptual projects.

Food Faces is on view at Rare Device from Friday, June 3 to Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Rare Device invites all to join in a celebration of Food Faces and Day Dreamers Limited on Friday, June 3, from 6pm-9pm at our Divisadero location (600 Divisadero Street). Food and drinks will be provided by Bar Crudo and Rye on the Road. This reception is free and open to the public. RSVP here.
