20x200

This sounds super exciting!! I am out of room for prints and art but...I am sure I'll succumb anyway.

Other thoughts on a Sunday night:

-I rented an apartment without closets. Where will I hide all the comic books?
-I have new Catherine Weitzman jewelry in and really times three need to get cracking on uploading to the webshop. This week I swear!
-If I had more time, I'd be going though my Annette Messager book more thorougly.
-Lisa is going to make art to decorate the front of RDSF and it's going to be killer.
-Salted caramel ice cream from Bi-Rite really is that good.
-Where does the time go?

I am doing a brief trip to LA next weekend (suggestions for art, food and shopping please) and then straight off to NY, to check in with Erin and the crew and to speak with Amy Greenjeans at the American Craft Council. I am looking forward to the trip.

  • L.A. food!!!!

    little hole-in-the-wall neighborhood places.

    let’s start w Gardena…
    Bob’s Okazu-ya
    16814 S Vermont Ave.
sooooooo good. Forget those Chain “Hawaiian” restaurants; Bob’s is the REAL deal.

The best ramen on God’s green earth is at Umemura. It’s in one of those O.G. brick Taco Bell buildings at 1724 W Redondo Beach Blvd. The Umani ramen is to die for. I’ve been known to eat it up to 3 times a week. I double-dog-dare you to try it.

    East Hollywood (Sunset Junction)..
“Agleria on Sunset”. The enchilada suisas…. mmmm, I’m drooling right now.

after midnight while drunk and/or high in mid-wilshire/K-town: Tofu house at 3575 Wilshire Blvd, just west of Western Av. Open 24 hours.

Palermo’s in Los Feliz. oh, the Chicken Diane or ravioli. I believe ACTUAL mobsters run the place.

Peruvian food – El Pollo Inka (1100 Pacific Coast HWY, Hermosa Beach). Their strange green sauce is made my magical elves kidnapped from caves in Machu Picchu.

The yellow curry lunch special at Angel Thai in Glendale (6420 San Fernando Rd). Crikey, it’s the best.

God, there’s a million more. But those are in my top 10.

  • hey rena,

Wow- where do I start? Shopping- 3rd Street near the Beverly Center for loads of design shops, La Brea between Wilshire and Melrose, the Western part of Melrose between La Cienega and Robertson, (interior design) and Robertson itself. The Pacific Design Center is in that area too. LACMA is also close by. Everything I’ve mentioned is in the same general area. But also go up to Silver Lake/ Sunset Junction. And Vermont Ave. near Franklin is pretty cool (Los Feliz) Bryan recommends Wacko on Hollywood near Vermont, and also Uncle Jer’s is in that area. And also Barnsdall Art Park- a Frank LLoyd Wright- designed estate that was willed to the city. As far as food, you won’t make it to Gardena- Korean Town is full of great restaurants- just try one. (Vermont near Wilshire and Olympic is a good place to start) For Japanese, it’s either Sawtelle (West L.A.) between Santa Monica Blvd. and Olympic, or Little Tokyo downtown. If you’re in Venice, try Mao’s Kitchen. ok- have fun!

    mollie
